Remarkable as it may seem, C. T. Lowndes & Company is celebrating its 160th year of operation in 2010.  The insurance agency has survived the War Between the States, Reconstruction, several 1800's fires that swept the city from the Ashley to the Cooper, numerous hurricanes including Hugo in 1989, one major earthquake, two World Wars, the Great Depression, and the Recession of 2008-2010.
