Summer time is here again and summer travels have begun.
Lots of folks fly to distance places and rent a car to continue their vacations.
And the age old question comes up –

Do I need to buy the very expensive insurance offered by the rental car company?

The only correct answer your insurance agent can give you is “Yes, I recommend you buy the insurance offered by the rental car company.”

There are many reasons for this and a very good explanation can be found at I would encourage you to read this article.

Here is one main reason for buying the rental car coverage. Suppose you are in an accident that is your fault and you have caused damage to the rental car. The car is disabled and in the middle of nowhere. If you purchased the insurance offered by the rental car company, all you have to do is hand them the car keys, tell them where the car is, and be on your way. If you did not buy their insurance, then you must be involved in the adjustment of the claim just as if it were your car. Plus you are probably not 100% insured as the above mentioned article discusses.

Safe travels this summer!
