Some simple actions include:
· Drain the pipes if your home has a water shut-off value.
· Wrap any outside pipes if the water cannot be drained from the pipes. This includes any faucets on the exterior of your home.
· Drain water from any garden hoses so the hoses do not crack and become useless next summer.
· Open any cabinet doors under sinks, etc. on the north side of your home so the warm inside air gets to those areas and keeps the pipe from freezing.
And be very cautious when using electric space heaters. Never leave them unattended or on overnight. They are fire hazards!!
The best insurance is preventing damage in the first place!!
