Sometimes, it seems like the whole world is going crazy! Boatloads of people are fleeing Africa and trying to get to Europe. Boatloads of Syrians are fleeing the bloodshed in Syria and trying to get to Europe. Boat loads of people from Southeast Asia are fleeing and no country will take them in. The Muslin world, from Iraq to Yemen to Syria is in chaos. The Russian Bear is raising its ugly head again. Tribes massacre other tribes in Africa.
I could go on and on.
This all makes me realize how lucky we are to live in the United States of America. And how lucky our country has been for so many years to have had a powerful military. And how fortunate we have been to have had so many men and women serve in the Armed Forces to defend our freedom.
Many Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and National Guardsmen have given their lives so we can live in this country.
I urge everyone of every age to pause a moment over this Memorial Day weekend and remember these brave men and women. And wonder about the conditions we might be living in without them.
Happy Memorial Day.
