Esther and I recently visited to Old Sheldon Church, located near Yemassee, SC.
The ruins of this very old church are amazing and beautiful in their splendor.
It excites the imagination to think what the church actually looked like when first constructed in the 1750s.
It was burned by the British during the Revolutionary War and again by the Yankees in 1865 at the end of the war of Northern Aggression.
The gravestones are the burial sites of people who died in the 1760 and are some of the oldest graves I have seen in the area. Well worth a visit to see this structure as its sits amongst beautiful live oak trees.
