It’s that time of the year again! Boaters everywhere are itching to get back out on the water and enjoy the warm weather. But wait! Don’t forget to prepare properly for your first voyage this season.

Let’s talk about a few key steps to take to prepare your boat and avoid trouble on the water.

1.       Get an annual tune up before each new boating season to make sure that all aspects of the boat are functioning and ready to hit the water safely

2.       Check all required equipment, like PFDs, fire extinguishers, flares, and first aid kits. Repair or replace items as necessary

3.       Do an inspection of your trailer, checking for things like good tire pressure, working brake lights, and any damage that may need repairs

4.       Check your policy to make sure that your boat is properly insured!
