Salamanca Spain is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was founded by a Celtic tribe before the rise of the Roman Empire.  

 

The New Cathedral, built between 1513 and 1733 is magnificent and features amazing numbers of sculpted  figures. The church organ is just remarkable!

 

The House of Shells is an unusual medieval building decorated with more than 300 carved mollusks.

 

Salamanca is home to one of Europe’s  oldest universities, Salamanca University, founded in 1134. Does not the building with the columns remind one of Randolph Hall the College of Charleston?

 

The Plaza Mayor is a beautiful square with throngs of people and gorgeous at night.
