Henry Lowndes Jr. CEO of C.T. Lowndes & Company

In December 1972, 44 years ago, I started working at C. T. Lowndes & Company and, for the last 34 years, I have been the man in charge at the agency.

I have loved every minute of the time and have been excited by all of the challenges and the successes and have learned a lot from the failures and setbacks.

Time has moved along, far too fast, and age 70 is in my not too distant future.

It is time to relinquish the many responsibilities and turn the operation of the agency over to the next, and younger, generation.

I have been privileged to serve the agency as the fifth generation of the Lowndes family to own and operate C. T. Lowndes & Company. I am proud to say the 6th generation of the Lowndes family is an integral part of the management of the agency along with the 2nd generation of the Silcox family.

It has been great working with all our clients and I will continue to work with clients to make sure they have the proper insurance coverage.

I am not retiring but will have an active, albeit reduced, role at C. T. Lowndes & Company, helping out in any way I can. This change is effective February 1, 2017.

I have no doubt the next generation will successfully lead C. T. Lowndes & Company for many more years and that the agency will remain a landmark in the insurance landscape in the South Carolina Low Country.
