It is the time for your teenager to get a car. How do you know which vehicle to purchase?

Take a look at the website for the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (www.iihs.org) and type in “best vehicle for your teen”.

83% of parents buy their teen a used car. IIHS has a list of affordable vehicles that meet important safety criteria for teen drivers. All the vehicles are under $20,000 and many are under $10,000. The recommended cars are guided by four principles:

·         Young drivers should stay away from high horsepower.

·         Bigger, heavier cars are safer.

·         Electronic stability control is a must.

·         Vehicle should have the best safety ratings possible.

There is a wealth of data on this website about many topics, such as distracted driving, older drivers, etc.  Check it out. It is certainly with a visit.
